Boris Johnson’s career hangs in the balance over Iran gaffe

News Correspondent

Channel 4 News has learnt that the Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson will meet with the family of Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe, the British woman imprisoned in Iran.

The 38 year old mother was jailed in Tehran for five years after being accused of plotting to topple the Iranian regime. She faces an additional five years after Boris Johnson mistakenly said she had been in Iran training journalists. Mr Johnson has since corrected his mistake but the Iranian government has seized on it as proof of Mrs Zagahari-Ratcliffe’s real motives.
