Boris Johnson rules out election before October 31 Brexit deadline

Senior Political Correspondent

There will be no general election before the Brexit deadline, Boris Johnson has insisted, declaring he has “absolutely” ruled out calling a snap poll before October 31st.

Mr Johnson has been out on the road in the West Midlands, visiting a police training college to repeat his promise to recruit 20,000 more officers in the next three years, although police chiefs have pointed out that will simply restore numbers to their pre-austerity cuts level.
