Boris Johnson delivers resignation speech as Theresa May faces Brexit backlash

Under attack from both sides: Theresa May’s shifting Brexit policy has faced days of criticism from Eurosceptics and Remainers on the Tory benches.

Today it was the turn of newly-minted backbencher Boris Johnson. In his resignation statement, the former foreign secretary accused the Prime Minister of self-doubt; dither, and a stealthy retreat from her original stance on EU withdrawal.

But Mrs May insisted again today that Brexit continues to mean Brexit.

We talk to Nadhim Zahawi, who backed Boris Johnson’s campaign to be Conservative leader in 2016, Conservative Remainer MP Vicky Ford, and Labour MP John Mann, who backed the government’s brexit bill last night.
