Benefits contractors criticised by MPs

Health and Social Care Editor

The three private contractors who assess people for disability benefits have been accused of failing to meet the government’s own quality standards, according to a damning report by MPs.

They say failures in the process have led to “untenable human costs” to claimants, as well as undermining trust in the system. Disability groups said the companies were being paid millions of pounds in taxpayers’ money for a “very poor service indeed”.
