Barclays executives accused of making secret payments to Qatar

Top bankers at Barclays made secret payments to Qatar in exchange for £4 billion to stave off a government bailout during the 2008 financial crisis, a court has been told. Four senior executives at Britain’s second biggest bank have gone on trial in a case expected to last up to six months, all pleading not guilty to conspiracy to commit fraud.
