Back to school for some children in England

After weeks of lessons at home, the school doors opened again for children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 6.

But early estimates suggest only half of schools actually reopened, with many saying they were not convinced it was safe to do so.

And schools in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have all kept their doors firmly shut.
