From sending asylum seekers thousands of miles away, to floating walls in the Channel and using former ferries as processing centres – it seems that everything is on the table as the government seeks to reform the way the asylum process is run in the UK.

The suggestions have provoked horror among campaigners and asylum seekers themselves. But is this kite-flying, or real policy debate?
