Rolls-Royce fights for engines deal
Updated on 20 September 2009
Aerospace firm Rolls-Royce is trying to fend off the loss of a major engines deal due to US defence spending cuts, it was reported.
Rolls-Royce has been lobbying in Washington to prevent funding for its F-136 engine for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter project being axed, according to the Sunday Times.
The firm, whose UK sites include Derby and Bristol, has been developing the engine as the smaller partner in a 40%-60% joint venture with US giant General Electric.
