Brown: the Afghan fight is not over

Nick Paton Walsh reports on the frontline strategy in the battle against the Taliban as the latest number of deaths of British soldiers killed in Afghanistan grows.

The latest deaths bring the number of British soldiers killed in Afghanistan to 179 - exactly as many as those killed in Iraq.

The prime minister today appeared to echo the defence secretary's words in warning there could be more deaths to come.

"This is a very hard summer; it's not over," Gordon Brown said.

Almost half of those killed have been blown up by IEDs - improvised explosive devices.
