Baby death: Haringey on the spot

By Carl Dinnen

Updated on 13 November 2008

Pressure continues on Haringey council in London over its failure to stop the death of a 17-month old baby.

Prosecutors say the council had to be forced to hand over important information.

The pressure on Haringey council over the death of Baby P has increased this morning after the Crown Prosecution Service revealed that the council had to be ordered by a judge to disclose documents during the court case.

The CPS was bringing a prosecution against three people responsible for the death of the 17-month old child.

The council says it did not hand the information over because of data protection rules.

And this morning a councillor for Haringey, the MP, Lynne Featherstone, has said the social workers should not continue to work with children while the investigation takes place.
