Violent clashes reported in Tehran
Updated on 24 June 2009
There have been more violent clashes between protesters and government militia outside the parliament building in the Iranian capital, according to unconfirmed reports.
One of the defeated candidates, Mehdi Karroubi, has called the government "illegitimate", but the country's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, told parliament he would not bow to pressure over the disputed presidential elections 12 days ago.
