Are Afghanistan's elections a success?
Updated on 20 August 2009
President Karzai hails today's elections a success, despite a patchy turnout and some violence across the country. Nick Paton Walsh reports.
Speaking in Kabul, the president said there had been dozens of attacks across Afghanistan.

The MoD said it may have been hit by enemy fire. But as Channel 4 News reports from Kabul, intimidation and violence notwithstanding, some Afghans were still determined to have their vote.
