Oasis frontman Noel Gallagher is battling it out with US President Barack Obama after the pair were nominated as the NME Hero of the Year.
Britpop pioneers Oasis have a supersonic list of nominations at this year's Shockwaves NME Awards, including Best British Band, Best Live Band, Best Album, Best Video, Best Band Blog and Gallagher for Hero Of The Year and Best Dressed.
Gallagher said of the nominations: "Seven nominations you say? Is that all? I always knew my time would come in the Best Dressed man in the world category."
Kings of Leon have four nominations - for Best International Band, Best Live Band, Best Track and Best Album.
Fighting it out for Best Live Band along with Oasis and Kings Of Leon are Muse, Radiohead and the Killers.
Muse said: "That's fantastic. We're in the studio now and we'll be back later this year and we look forward to really cleaning up at next year's ceremony."
Oasis will go head-to-head for Best British Band with previous winners Muse, along with Bloc Party, Radiohead and Last Shadow Puppets.
Having taken on Glastonbury, US hip-hop supremo Jay-Z will battle Ladyhawke, Laura Marling, Lightspeed Champion and Pete Doherty for Best Solo Artist.
For a second year running, Amy Winehouse and Doherty were nominated in the Worst Dressed and Villain Of The Year categories.
Winners will be announced on February 25 at London's Brixton Academy.
