Acting FBI Director testifies to Senate

Washington Correspondent

President Trump has called the FBI director he fired a ‘grandstander’, and said he alone made the decision to let him go.

His explanation why he suddenly sacked James Comey, came as a Senate intelligence committee heard evidence from the new acting director, Andy McCabe.

Director McCabe, contradicting the White House, said Mr Comey DID retain the support of FBI employees.

Our Washington correspondent Kylie Morris is at the Senate now.
