Acting FBI Director testifies to Senate

President Trump has called the FBI director he fired a ‘grandstander’, and said he alone made the decision to let him go.

His explanation why he suddenly sacked James Comey, came as a Senate intelligence committee heard evidence from the new acting director, Andy McCabe.

Director McCabe, contradicting the White House, said Mr Comey DID retain the support of FBI employees.
