22 million people could be affected, as PM won’t commit to raising benefits in line with inflation

The Prime Minister has refused to commit to raising benefits in line with inflation, despite growing pressure from senior Tory MPs – including a former party leader and a member of her own cabinet.

The decision would have a substantial impact on the already-strained personal finances of the 22 million people who claim some combination of government benefits.
