2.6 million Covid jabs carried out in UK

Almost 2.3 million people have now had their first vaccine dose across the UK.  Now the government has set out plans to vaccinate at least 2 million every week.

NHS chiefs described it as “two sprints and a marathon” to get everyone on the priority list immunised by the spring and then offer it to every adult by autumn.

But it’s also a dangerous race against the sheer scale of the pandemic.
