The Lowdown
- The World Cup downhill course, the Whiteface, was designed by Bernhard Russi
- Norway has a rich history of skiing and the Lillehammer Ski Club, founded in 1883, is one of the world's oldest ski clubs
- Locals claim Lillehammer is the only city in the world featuring a skier in its coat of arms, which is also the motif for Lillehammer Ski Club's emblem
- The Lysgårdsbakkene Ski Jumping Arena was built for the 1994 winter Olympics. For several years following the Olympic winter games, Lillehammer served as the season-opening venue for the ski jumping World Cup
- Past World Cup winners include Dharon Rhalves, Hermann Maier and Hannes Trinkl
