The Lowdown
  • Lenzerheide became a resort in 1882 after a cow shed was converted into the 30-bed Hotel Kurhaus
  • The women's downhill course is one of the fastest on the World Cup circuit with racers often hitting speeds of 110kmh
  • Picabo Street won the first ever women's downhill event in 1995, with Pernilla Wiberg winning the women's slalom
  • In January 1984 top slalom racers Phil and Steve Mahre were disqualified from a World Cup race for inadvertently wearing each other's race bib
  • The Lenzerheide Valley has over 155km of ski runs and two permanent racing slopes
