The Lowdown
  • The resort's Jenner course was the venue for the first World Cup slalom in 1967
  • In 1974, the Italian national team made history here by taking the first five places in the World Cup giant slalom
  • The town of Berchtesgaden is famous for its salt mines
  • Past World Cup winners include America's Kristina Koznick and Switzerland's Marlies Oester, who were both given victories following a dead heat in the slalom event in 2002
  • The resort is popular with snowboarders and has been holding World Cup events since 1999
