Are (pronounced 'Oarer') is Northern Europe's largest resort, with nearly 100km of trails
Are has the only slopes served by cable car in Scandinavia. It also has a funicular railway, which was opened in 1910
The resort hosted the FIS World Championship in 1954, the only time the event has been held in Scandinavia
Are's World Cup course was designed by former Olympic champion Bernhard Russi
Slalom legend Ingemar Stenmark won six World Cup events here in the 1970s and 1980s
