CHEMMY ALCOTT
Chemmy Alcott is currently Britain's number one skier.
Chemmy struggled with injury in 2005 after having an operation to have her feet corrected, but her return to form in 2006 was remarkable. She finished 11th in the 2006 Winter Olympics in 1:57.85 - the best downhill result for a British woman in the Olympics for 38 years.
The 2006/2007 Alpine Ski World Cup season saw a rapid improvement in Chemmy's form. In the second round of the season in Reiteralm, Austria, she finished 7th in the Super Combined event - her best world cup result to date.
After an intensive training regime over the summer, bigger and better things are expected this season and a place on the podium is a definite possibility.
