Bijotat cheered by late win

Sunday 27 November, 2005

Sochaux boss Dominique Bijotat believes his team’s courage was the decisive factor in their 1-0 win over Rennes.

The Brittany side had several chances to score before Benjamin Genghini struck a last-gasp winner for the home team.

“We were up against an excellent Rennes side tonight,” said Bijotat, whose position looks more secure after two victories in a week. “We had to be really solid and well-positioned to get the result.

"They have two of three chances, we also had several. But we often struggle towards the end of the games. This time we showed enough heart and enough strength.”

Bijotat was also keen to praise the contribution of his substitutes and, in particular, Genghini who marked his first appearance with a goal. “I’ve been telling the players in the last fortnight that I wasn’t happy with the subs, that they’re not adding anything extra.

“In this game I felt that the guys who came on had a totally different spirit,” he added.
