France midfielder Benoît Pedretti admits his early months at Lyon have helped him to pinpoint certain weaknesses in his game.
Pedretti has failed to forge a place for himself at Lyon following his transfer from Marseille, with Coach Gérard Houllier preferring the trio of Mahamadou Diarra, Tiago and Juninho Pernambucano.
“I don’t have the same defensive potential as Diarra and I don’t have the same attacking abilities as Juninho,” said Pedretti with frank honesty.
“Therefore, I need to work hard on both of these aspects. I have to score more and I have to make more goalscoring chances."
Pedretti, who has also lost his place in the France side recently, added: “When we pass the ball around, I take too long. I have a tendency to disrupt things when the rhythm is disjointed, and then I become an unhelpful player.”
The 25-year-old, who is in the Lyon squad to face Real Madrid tomorrow, has featured in just nine League matches so far this season.
