Former Lyon Coach Paul Le Guen is believed to have been contacted by Scottish giants Rangers.
Current boss Alex McLeish is under enormous pressure after losing to Glasgow rivals Celtic in the CIS Cup in midweek, and sports daily L'Equipe report that Le Guen will meet with club officials tomorrow.
The rumour has been circulating in the city over the past few days, and gained new credibility when Celtic chairman Brian Quinn let slip he had been told that the Frenchman would be taking over.
The 41-year-old steered Lyon to three consecutive Ligue 1 titles and has been linked with a number of top European sides since leaving the Stade Gerland this summer.
He has met with officials from Benfica, Lazio, Stuttgart and Dynamo Kiev but has yet to find a club that matches his ambition.
