Valenciennes went top of the table after their win at Istres, while Bastia slumped to a heavy defeat away to Caen.

The Corsican side went into the weekend atop the Ligue 2 standings, but were beaten 4-1 at Caen, for whom Samson scored twice.

Valenciennes took advantage of the slip, winning 4-1 away to Istres. Savidan scored a brace for the northern club who are level on points with Sedan but have a better goal difference than the Wild Boars.

Sedan were held to a 1-1 draw by Amiens, while another promotion hopeful Créteil could only produce a goalless stalemate at Lorient. The Paris-based club remain fifth in the table, while Lorient are fourth.
