Ligue 2 leaders Sedan needed an equaliser in the dying minutes at home to Châteauroux to maintain their advantage at the summit.
The Wild Boars have been top of the pile since Week 11, but that all looked set to change when Yacine Hima fired the visitors in front just after half-time. Serge Romano's side refused to wilt, however, and drew level through Michael Ciani on 86 minutes to stay one point ahead of Bastia.
For their part, the Corsicans climbed one place up from third thanks to their 2-0 victory away to Dijon, a game in which both Dijon's Vedad Ibisevic and Bastia's Grégory Lorenzi were sent off. Meanwhile, last week's second-placed team Créteil dropped down to fifth after losing by the same scoreline away to Clermont.
In addition to Bastia, the side from the Paris suburbs were also leapfrogged by Lorient 2-0 winners over Gueugnon and Valenciennes, who saw off Guingamp 2-0. The latter result left Breton outfit Guingamp rooted to the bottom of the table, in stark contrast to their Normandy neighbours Lorient, who are starting to look like potential promotion candidates. Staying in the same region, fellow Normans Caen are now eighth after drawing 0-0 with Montpellier.
Elsewhere, Istres responded to the news that Xavier Gravelaine had quit as general manager before kick-off in their match against Brest by picking up a valuable 1-0 success. But the real drama of the weekend unravelled at Sète, where the home side found themselves trailing 3-0 to Amiens after 50 minutes. Incredibly, the 19th-placed side were able to draw level and even take the lead before surrendering it at the death to an 89th-minute penalty.
