Créteil may have been held to a scoreless draw by Brest on Friday, but the French capital's second club are still top of Ligue 2 after seven games.

Despite the absence of top scorer Ali Boulebda Créteil were unable to break down a determined and well organised five-man Brest defence despite still carving out the best chances of the match.

Lorient jumped into second with a comprehensive 3-0 win over Clermont thanks to Ziani's 40th minute strike and a second-half double from Bourhani.

Corsican side Bastia left it late to claim all the points away to Laval, in the process climbing back into the promotion places, despite trailing for 1-0 for 85 minutes. Maire 87th minute strike cancelled out Ben Khalfallah's second-minute opener, before Meslin broke Laval hearts with the winner in the third minute of stoppage time.

Elsewhere, Montpellier's difficult run continued with a last-minute 2-1 defeat to Valenciennes while Sedan overcame Grenoble in stoppage time by the same scoreline.

Le Havre beat Reims thanks to a Lesage brace while there were draws for Guingamp against Gueugnon, Istres against Dijon, Amiens versus Châteauroux drew 1-1. The bottom two, Sète and Caen also shared the spoils.
