Nancy finished the season in style on Friday, clinching the Ligue 2 title with a 1-0 win over Brest, while bottom side Niort hit Le Havre for six.
The Lorraine club maintained their advantage over Troyes and Le Mans, who have also been promoted, thanks to a goal from Kroupi in the 31st minute over ninth-placed Brest.
Le Mans finished second in the table, three points behind Nancy, after they drew 0-0 at Clermont, who were relegated the week before. Troyes’s 2-1 win over Montpellier meant they finished the campaign level on points with Le Mans in third.
The strangest result of the evening came at Niort, where the Ligue 2’s bottom club made their exit in style. They defeated 17th-placed Le Havre 6-1, with Lalaoui netting a hat-trick.
Fortunately for Le Havre, they were already certain of retaining their place in the Division. Angers will join Clermont and Niort in the National next season after they lost 2-1 at home to Châteauroux to wind up 19th in the standings.
