Troyes ended the year on a high with a morale-boosting 2-1 win over Sochaux, a result which takes them one spot above their opponents in 16th place.
L'ESTAC looked to take an early advantage with a burst of pressure soon after the start in which Sébastien Grax and Blaise Matuidi both had efforts saved by stand-in Sochaux 'keeper Alexandre Martinovic. The visitors were content to sit back and defend, yet they were threatened once again when Ziad Jaziri sent an effort narrowly wide.
The hosts were fairly predictable in their approach play, however, constantly trying to break through the middle and Sochaux soaked up their attacks with increasing ease. They had no answer to Florian Boucansaud's header on 50 minutes, though, as the defender turned in a corner thanks in large part to a gross misjudgement from Martinovic.
Seven minutes later, Troyes were two goals to the good as Jaziri collected a Sébastien Dallet cross from the left with a superb chest control before unleashing an unstoppable shot. Sochaux were now losing the physical battle too, but they finally earned themselves a consolation of sorts thanks to Mickaël Isabey's spectacular bicycle kick deep into stoppage-time.
