Ligue 1 Week 2 - 6/8/05 (19.00)
Troyes 0-0 St Etienne
Stade de l'Aube

Newly-promoted Troyes remain unbeaten after picking up a goalless draw at home to Saint-Etienne.

Frédéric Piquionne and Pascal Feindouno continued their impressive double-act from last season for Les Verts, but it was Troyes' on-loan striker Sébastien Grax who fired in the first shot on target after six minutes.

Faid Jaziri even thought he had given the hosts the lead when he powered the ball in off a post, but an offside decision against Branko Boskovic denied the Stade de l'Aube faithful were the chance to celebrate.

Former Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Boskovic almost made amends when he shot against the post after 30 minutes, and Benjamin Nivet somehow smashed the ball back against the woodwork from the penalty spot as it rebounded out.

Saint-Etienne skipper Julien Sablé grazed the crossbar at the other end, and the excitement continued after the restart when Feindouno barely missed the target after excellent work from Hérita Ilunga and Piquionne.

Piquionne then forced his former colleague Ronan Le Crom into a save from the edge of the area soon after, and both teams kept striving to open the scoring as the clock ran down.

Sablé headed a corner just wide and Damien Perquis kept out another Piquionne chance on the goal line, while Boskovic attempted an audacious scissor kick in stoppage-time, but ultimately the draw was a fair reflection of the game.
