Ajaccio sunk further into relegation trouble as they were thrashed 3-0 at Toulouse on Saturday.
The Corsican side are without a win in 10 matches now, and they never looked like taking anything from Toulouse. After a quiet opening to the game, Antonio Carlos’s reckless challenge on Fodé Mansaré conceded a penalty, which was duly converted by Daniel Moreira on 16 minutes.
Ajaccio were close to equalising when Kaba Diawara just failed to get his head to Kamel Chafni’s cross moments later, but Toulouse were soon in control.
Just short of the hour mark, Toulouse ‘keeper Christophe Revault made a sharp save to deny Chafni, sparking a counterattack that resulted in a second goal for the home side. A poor clearance from Carlos rebounded off Jérémy Mathieu and lobbed the luckless Ajaccio ‘keeper Stéphane Porato.
The points were wrapped up with a third goal in stoppage time, Alexandre Bonnet turning the ball into the net after Laurent Batlles’ shot had been closed down.
