Toulouse sealed a thrilling 4-2 win over Strasbourg on Saturday, leaving the Alsace team firmly rooted in the relegation zone.
Strasbourg, who have not won in their last six matches, will be counting themselves unlucky after turning in a decent performance. They created numerous chances, but were caught out on the counterattack with alarming regularity.
The game started in dramatic fashion, with three goals scored in the first eight minutes. Toulouse opened the scoring through recent signing Laurent Batlles on three minutes, only for the home side to draw level with a Karim Haggui header on six minutes.
Daniel Moreira then netted a second for Toulouse two minutes later, before Strasbourg launched a spell of sustained pressure.
The home side got the goal they deserved four minutes before the interval, Haggui scoring his second of the night to make it 2-2.
Strasbourg came out firing after the break but some dogged defending and fine goalkeeping from Christophe Révault kept Toulouse level. Salim Arrache thought he had scored on 57 minutes but Batlles reacted brilliantly to clear off the Toulouse goalline.
The visitors rode their luck then amazingly ran away with the victory thanks to two late goals.
Substitute Nicolas Dieuze made an immediate impact, scoring a third Toulouse goal on 65 minutes, then Santos sealed the victory 14 minutes from time.
