Strasbourg are still looking for their first win of the season after being held 0-0 by Bordeaux at the Stade de La Meinau on Saturday.
Despite monopolising possession in the opening 45 minutes the home side were unable to break down a well-organised visiting defence and Bordeaux captain Ulrich Ramé remained untested in the visitors’ goal.
Strasbourg ‘keeper Stéphane Cassard, however, had to be alert to deny first Fernando and then Rio Mavuba as the sides headed to the break all-square.
The home fans had to wait until 15 minutes from time to see their side draw a save from Ramé when Egyptian Hosni fired on target from 25m out, while Bordeaux’s latest recruit, the Brazilian World Cup winner Denilson made his debut for les Girondins as a late substitute.
The result sees Bordeaux rejoin Paris Saint-Germain and Lyon atop the Ligue 1 standings with 10 points, while Strasbourg after their third 0-0 of the season remain in 17th with just three points from their opening five matches.
