Auxerre boss Jacques Santini got off to a disastrous start in the Champions’ Cup on Wednesday, as his side were outclassed 4-1 by Lyon at the Stade de l’Abbé Deschamps.

Strasbourg should not be so tough an opponent as Lyon, but they proved that they were a tough nut to crack on their home ground last season. Mamadou Niang has quit Alsace for Marseille, while the loss of Yacine Abdessadki to Toulouse was also a blow.
