A well-organised Nancy side sealed an impressive 2-0 win over Sochaux on Saturday thanks to two goals in the last two minutes at the Stade Bonal.
After soaking up pressure from the home team, Nancy struck at the ideal moment, as goals from Gaston Curbelo and Elie Kroupi left Sochaux stranded in the bottom three. It was Nancy’s second away win on the spin and moves them up to ninth in the standings.
Sochaux were lacking in ideas in attack throughout, although Nancy’s Gennaro Bracigliano was the busier of the two goalkeepers in the first half. Bracigliano was in the action early, parrying a Jérémy Menez free kick before producing a fingertip save from Mickael Isabey’s curling shot.
When Bracigliano was beaten by a Moumouni Dagano header, Adailton was on hand to head off the line, then Menez struck wide when well placed on 27 minutes.
But as Nancy stood firm, Sochaux’s confidence soon began to drain and the visitors came into the game as an attacking force after the interval.
Curbelo, who scored twice against Troyes last week, eventually broke the deadlock when he curled a sumptuous shot into the top corner.
Then, in injury-time, Kroupi, who had only been on the pitch for a matter of minutes, doubled the Nancy lead and condemned Dominique Bijotat’s side to a fourth home defeat of the season.
