Bakary Koné's second-half goal sealed a 1-0 win for Nice over crisis-club Ajaccio on Saturday.
An extremely tight game was eventually decided by a piece of inspiration from Ivory Coast striker Koné on 47 minutes. The former Lorient ace broke the Ajaccio offside trap and then broke the deadlock, firing an exquisite chip over the advancing Stéphane Porato.
The Corsicans showed great determination to get back in the game thereon, but Rolland Courbis team once again lacked quality in the final third. The closest they came to equalising was when Rodrigo’s powerfully-struck shot was saved by Nice ‘keeper Damien Grégorini at point-blank range on the hour mark.
It was not to be, though, and Ajaccio are now without a win in 12 matches.
