Brazilian Kim's first goal in French football ensured Nancy defeated 10-man Le Mans at the Stade Marcel-Picot on Saturday.
Le Mans came into this match having scored just twice away from home this season and on the back of three straight defeats on the road.
Nancy seemed intent on taking advantage of any doubts in their opponents minds and pressed high up the field, looking to force their guests into error.
However, the closest either side came to a clear cut chance in the first half was when the Nancy believed they should have had a penalty on 34 minutes after a late challenge in the area by Laurent Bonnart.
Le Mans survived until the break but found themselves reduced to ten men midway through the second period when Guinea international Ismaël Bangoura was given his marching orders for a second yellow card offence.
The extra-man advantage gave Nancy the edge they needed to break down a well-organised Le Mans back line and Kim obliged 15 minutes from time with a simple finish after good work from substitute Adailton.
The result sees Nancy climb back up to 11th in the standings, a solitary point from Marseille while Le Mans slip to ninth.
