Lens registered their second win of the season, as Alou Diarra and Aruna Dindane both scored to account for Nancy.
The defeat leaves newly-promoted Nancy with much soul-searching to do. They managed to score their first goal of the season, but that will be of little consolation to their fans who will be fearing the worst when they look at the League table tonight and see their team propping it up with zero points.
Lens silenced the optimistic home fans with an opening goal on 14 minutes. Nancy will have been disappointed with their defending at the corner, as Jussiê’s cross found an unmarked Diarra who powered a header goalwards. Despite the attempts of Nancy’s goalline defenders, the France international’s effort had enough on it to cross the line.
A flowing move from Les Sang et Or breached the home defence again six minutes later. Olivier Thomert’s probing pass picked out Dindane on the edge of the box and the Ivory Coast international brilliantly chipped a shot over Gennaro Bracigliano and into the net. It was his first League goal since a summer move from Anderlecht.
Nancy's hopes of claiming their first point back in the top flight were given a boost one minute into the second half. Emmanuel Duchemin and Adrian Sarkisian combined well to set up Mosef Zerka and he slotted the ball past Charles Itandje at the second attempt.
But they lacked the firepower necessary to break through the Lens defence for a second time, and the visitors hung on with relative ease to claim a welcome three points.
