A Mamadou Diallo brace helped Nantes get their season back on track with a comfortable 2-0 win over struggling Toulouse at the Stade de La Beaujoire on Saturday night.
Nantes began the match in determined fashion, looking to capitalise on any doubts in the Toulouse camp after going five League games without a goal, and could have gone ahead inside two minutes were it not for TFC captain Christophe Revault's reflex save to deny Imed Mhadhebi's diving header.
However there was nothing Revault could do stop Diallo opening the scoring just after the quarter-hour with a thunderous back-post header from a pin-point Mhadhebi free-kick.
Nantes refused to sit on their lead and deservedly doubled their advantage when Diallo latched onto the end of Milos Dimitrijevic's searching pass and dispatched the ball past the hesitant Revault.
Despite a more combative TFC after the break, Nantes could well have extended their lead in the second period but were twice denied by the plucky Revault. The former PSG shot-stopper firstly denied Diallo a hat-trick one-on-one before turning a devilish Frédéric Da Rocha effort behind for a corner.
The result see Nantes climb back into the top half of the table while Erick Mombaerts' side, desperately low on confidence, remain just one spot above the relegation zone in 17th place.
