Nantes and Metz shared the spoils after a dull 0-0 draw at the Stade de la Beaujoire on Saturday.
Metz are still looking for their first win of the season after registering their third draw against a Nantes outfit showing little of the enterprise that saw them joint top after two games of the current campaign.
A bright start from the home side was abruptly cut short when Malian striker Mamadou Diallo was stretchered from the field after a clash of heads with young defender Sébastian Bassong.
Metz ‘keeper Grégory Wimbée kept out a double effort from substitute forward Grégory Pujol while the closest Metz came was a long range drive from Hungarian international Szabolcs Hutszti just before the interval which failed to worry Mickaël Landreau in the hosts’ goal.
After the break Metz were the more enterprising of the two sides but they failed to test a Nantes defence missing Argentine stopper Mauro Cetto through suspension.
Wimbée was again on hand to deny former Marseille forward Habib Bamogo on 63 minutes as the game and the crowd petered out.
The result changes little for either side. Nantes are still sixth with eight points while Metz, with three points, remain third-from-bottom, a single point above bottom club Marseille.
