Nantes captain Mickaël Landreau celebrated his 300th Ligue 1 match with a 2-0 win over Lens at the Stade Beaujoire on Saturday.
It took Nantes just seven minutes to settle the match as a contest against a Lens side clearly suffering the effects of their precious midweek Intertoto draw against the Germans of Wolfsburg.
Gilles Yapi Yapo opened the scoring just four minutes into the match with a grasscutter that went in with the aid of Lens ‘keeper Charles Itandje’s upright.
Three minutes later surprise selection Luigi Glombard repaid Nantes Coach Serge Le Dizet faith with a smart chip past Itandje after skipping clear of a flat-footed Lens defence.
Lens briefly fought back and Olivier Thomert almost ruined Landreau’s celebrations with a stunning left-foot volley, only to see his effort cannon down and away off the underside of the bar.
The second half saw Lens’ new Ivory Coast attacker Aruna Dindane try single-handedly to claw his side back into the match.
The former Anderlecht ace saw claims for a penalty turned down before twice drawing fine saves from the determined Landreau.
