Revitalised Monaco moved up to fourth with a routine 2-0 win over Le Mans.
It was the visitors, rather than their hosts, who looked like they played in the UEFA Cup in midweek and Francesco Guidolin's charges were barely tested as they completed a straightforward triumph to add to Wednesday's 2-0 victory over Slavia Prague.
A minute's silence was observed for former Monaco player David Di Tomasso before the kick-off, however there was no question of the principality club being distracted from the task in hand. Olivier Sorlin created an early danger before shooting over, but it proved only a momentary respite for Troyes as François-Joseph Modesto rose highest to head in a free-kick on 10 minutes.
Toifilou Maoulida almost got in on the action seven minutes later, only for Yoann Pelé to deny him, yet there was nothing L'ESTAC's 'keeper could do to keep out Sorlin after Vassilis Zikos beat the defence with a killer pass towards the end of the first half.
Monaco were content to sit on their lead after the break, yet they still appeared most likely to score the next goal with Pelé doing exceptionally well to get his hand to a Camel Meriem effort from 30 metres out.
James Fanchone headed against the bar for Troyes as the clock and the game wound down, and it was as close as the promoted team would come to reducing the deficit.
