Francileudo Santos netted a late equaliser for Toulouse to deny Metz only their second win of the season in a 2-2 draw.
The Lorraine outfit remain 19th as a result, despite dominating the visitors in almost every department. And they were ahead after just 14 minutes when Grégory Proment converted a penalty awarded for Fodé Mansare's handball.
Toulouse gradually imposed themselves and were it not for Grégory Wimbée's stunning save from Laurent Batlles' point-blank effort they would have cancelled that goal out on 28 minutes. They only had to wait another 12 minutes, however, as Daniel Moreira steered in Batlles' cross to send the teams in level at the break.
Metz came out with renewed purpose, though, and Achille Emana was fortunate to keep out an Abdelnasser Ouadah header on the goal line after 57 minutes. Joël Muller's team eventually got the goal their efforts merited, however, and once again it was Proment the scorer after he was perfectly set up by Babacar Gueye's header from a Ouadah cross.
Ouadah then struck a post, but Santos broke the home side's hearts when he steered the ball past Wimbée in the very last minute.
