Ligue 1 Week 2 - 6/8/05 (19.00)
Metz 0-0 Le Mans
Stade Saint-Symphorien

Metz and Le Mans are both still looking for their first wins of the season after playing out a goalless draw at the Stade Saint-Symphorien.

Looking well-organised in defence, newly-promoted Le Mans elected to attack on the break, leaving their hosts to control possession.

Metz made little use of it, however, with only Ludovic Obraniak looking threatening in the opening 45 minutes with a shot saved easily by Yoann Pelé.

Tulio De Melo and Ndri Romaric both tested Grégory Wimbée for the visitors in the first half, and they were back to cause more problems after the break, but the best chance of the game fell to Metz striker Marcin Zewlakow on 53 minutes.

Superbly picked out at the far post by an Abdelnasser Ouadah cross, the Polish frontman somehow contrived to steer the simplest of headers wide, and no one else was able to show him how to do it as the match remained deadlocked right up to the final whistle.

Metz: Wimbée - Beria, Marchal, Borbiconi, Paisley, Huszti (Renouard 62) - Proment (cap), Ouadah, Obraniak - Ahn Jung-hwan (G. Leca 79), Ma. Zewlakow (Mom. Ndiaye 62)

Le Mans: Y. Pelé - O. Thomas, Basa, Poulard, Bonnart (cap) - Hautcoeur, F. Thomas - Fanchone (Lucau 60), Romaric, Matsui - De Melo (Bangoura 85)
