A brace from Brazilian defender Cris ensured leaders Lyon registered their seventh consecutive win after coming from behind to beat Troyes at the Stade Gerland on Saturday.
Gérard Houllier's men, who travel to Real Madrid in the Champions' League in mid-week, adopted their habitual pressing game and Benoït Pedretti forced Ronan Le Crom into a flying save as early as the third minute with his long-range drive.
However, the Troyans, struggling in 17th place in Ligue 1, weathered the early storm and created the first clear-cut chance when Christian Nadé's shot kissed the outside of Grégory Coupet's upright.
Lyon failed to take heed and within 60 seconds the visitors were in front when Benjamin Nivet headed home Gharib Amzine's cross on 21 minutes.
But the quadruple champions aren't undefeated in the League for nothing and were quickly back on level terms thanks to Cris' header from a deep Pedretti free-kick.
Lyon regained the upperhand and should have been leading at the break were it not for Le Crom's brilliant save to deny Wiltord, one-on-one.
The second half began in similar fashion with Lyon camped outside the Troyes penalty area. However, Wiltord (twice) Hatem Ben Arfa, Pedretti and Sidney Govou all wasted chances to give Lyon the 15 minutes following the restart.
Just as Troyes were looking as though they were going to come away with a share of the spoils Cris popped up again in the opposition penalty area and acrobatically swept home the winner on 76 minutes.
The win sees Lyon go provisionally 12 points clear at the top after equalling a club record of seven consecutive wins.
