Ligue 1 Week 2 - 6/8/05 (19.00)
Bordeaux 1-0 Nancy
Chamakh 5
Stade Chaban-Delmas

An early Marouane Chamakh goal enabled Bordeaux to maintain their 100% record with a slender 1-0 triumph over Nancy.

The Ligue 1 new boys had hardly had time to get their bearings before Lyon-target Chamakh turned in an excellent cross from Julien Faubert for his first strike of the season.

Instead of folding, though, Nancy fought back through their Uruguayan midfielder Adrian Sarkisian, and he tested Girondins goalkeeper Ulrich Ramé on a number of occasions in the first half.

At the other end, Jean-Claude Darcheville ought to have put Ricardo's men 2-0 up when he dribbled past Nancy 'keeper Gennaro Bracigliano, but Pape Diakhaté somehow got back in time to intercept his shot.

With better finishing, the promoted side could have drawn level on any of several occasions, but Gaston Curbelo, in particular, was guilty of spurning a number of good chances.

Nancy were also unfortunate to find Ramé in excellent form, but were it turn for heroics from his counterpart Bracigliano, the Lorraine outfit could have lost by a greater margin.

It was Ramé who made the last telling contribution, however, as his stunning reflex save kept out a Diakhaté shot three minutes into added-time to guarantee another three points for Bordeaux.

Bordeaux: Ramé (cap) - Jemmali, Planus, Afanou, Jurietti - Faubert, Mavuba, Br. Cheyrou (Ducasse 79), Smicer (Francia 40) - Darcheville, Chamakh (Laslandes 69)
