Ligue 1 Week 9 - 24/9/05 (19:00)
Bordeaux 1-0 Ajaccio

Darcheville 30

Stade Chaban-Delmas

Bordeaux returned to winning ways after a run of four straight draws, as Jean-Claude Darcheville’s goal accounted for Ajaccio.

Having taken the lead and then surrendered it in their last two matches against Lyon and Rennes, Bordeaux will be delighted that they kept a clean sheet here, even if their performance was far from convincing.

Ajaccio ‘keeper Stéphane Porato was called into action to keep out Marouane Chamakh’s shot on nine minutes, before getting down low to save from Vladimir Smicer five minutes later.

But Bordeaux struggled to maintain control and almost went behind midway through the first half, as Waldir Lucas Perreira’s header flashed fractionally wide of Ulrich Ramé’s post.

But just as Ricardo’s team looked in danger of being overrun, they took the lead. David Jemmali combined cleverly with Chamakh on the right before crossing for Darcheville to score with a sweet header.

Bordeaux lost Smicer to injury at the break and they subsequently failed to put the Ajaccio defence under any sustained pressure.

The Corsican team pushed forward with desperation in the closing stages and Ramé was forced to make an excellent save from Kaba Diawara five minutes before the end, ensuring Bordeaux held on to the three points.
