The international break obviously suited Auxerre as they returned to winning ways with a heavy 3-0 victory at home to Troyes.
Jacques Santini's side suffered consecutive defeats in their last two outings (UEFA Cup and Ligue 1), but they responded with an absolutely dominant display and three points to take themselves up to fourth in the standings .
The only doubt was how many Auxerre would score, and with Benoît Cheyrou running the show in midfield they looked menacing almost every time they went forward.
Philippe Violeau shot just over after ten minutes following good work from Cheyou and Benjani, and that pairing combined well again for the opener, with the Zimbabwean striker flicking his teammate's cross on for Yann Lachuer to stab in.
Cheyrou, Benjani and Peguy Luyindula all came close to doubling the score before the break, and that honour ultimately fell to the latter on 79 minutes, when he chipped over Ronan Le Crom after being expertly fed by Thomas Kahlenberg.
Benjani then made up for his earlier misses by pouncing on Blaise Kouassi's mistake to fire in the third of the evening and consign Troyes to their fifth defeat of the campaign.
