Ligue 1 Week 15 - 19/11/05 (19.00)
Ajaccio 0-1 Sochaux

Erding 92

Stade François-Coty

Ligue 1 debutante Mevlud Erding was the hero for Sochaux as they registered a valuable injury-time win over fellow strugglers Ajaccio on Saturday.

The atmosphere at the Stade François-Coty was suitably tense for a match which pitted 17th against 18th in the Ligue 1 standings.

The players maitained the theme in a dull opening period where Sochaux playmaker Mourad Meghni's long-range effort on 11 minutes was the closest either side came to a real chance in the opneing half-hour.

However, the Corsican's slowly took the upper hand and only a brilliant Teddy Richert save denied Miranda an opening goal for the hosts on 31 minutes.

It seemed only a matter of time before Rolland Courbis' side ended an eight match winless streak as they dominated after the restart.

Kaba Diawara, Waldir Lucas and Romain Rocchi all went close as Sochaux soaked up the pressure, unable to break out of their own half.

Then with five minutes left in regulation time, Dominique Bijotat played his last card and through on Erding for his first taste of top-flight football.

Seven minutes he was the toast of the team after rifling home a pass from his captain Mickaël Isabey with the outside of his right-boot.

Sochaux's unlikely victory sees them climb back up to 15th place before Sunday's match between Rennes and Toulouse, whileAjaccio remain rooted to the relegation zone having taken just two points from their last nine league matches.
