A last gasp Mathieu Debuchy goal gave Lille a thrilling 3-3 draw away to Ajaccio.
Rolland Courbis's Ajaccio have never won their first home game at the start of a new season, but until Debuchy headed in at the far post in added-time, they looked on course to finally break that spell.
Indeed, they led the visitors three times in this match, only to be pegged back on each occasion, and Courbis is unlikely to have been impressed by his players' concentration levels.
Former Paris Saint-Germain man Romain Rocchi struck first for the Corsicans, chipping the ball over Lille goalkeeper Tony Sylva after 13 minutes, but the northerners hit back just five minutes later when Jean Makoun headed in Peter Odemwengie's cross from the left.
Ajaccio redoubled their efforts, however, and they restored their advantage thanks to Waldir Lucas Pereira's close-range header on 28 minutes.
The hosts seemed to be comfortably in control, but last season's runners-up were not to be written off and pulled level just before the break, new signing Daniel Gygax stabbing the ball home after Ajaccio goalkeeper Stéphane Porato had parried a Yohan Cobaye effort into his path.
Rafik Saïfi put Ajaccio in front for a third time with a marvellous diving header from a Rocchi free-kick, but they proved incapable of putting themselves in the clear, and Lille substitute Matt Moussilou twice reminded them that the game was far from over.
The northerners' tenacity served them so well last year, and their never-say-die approach was finally rewarded when Debuchy beat Saïfi in the air to leave Porato picking the ball out of his net for a third time.
